Nicholas Fairfax is the 14th Lord Fairfax of Cameron
He studied International Law at Cambridge University and qualified as an English Barrister, followed by an internship at the Washington DC law firm Covington& Burling
Since then he has pursued a 40 year career in Shipping (Marine Transportation), including ten years on the Board of the North of England P&I Association and fifteen years as a senior executive with a major tanker shipping company
He is currently a Director of Sulnox Group plc, a publicly quoted UK based Fuel Conditioning Company and is also the co-founder of a security company Hawki Worldwide Ltd
He became an Elected Member of the House of Lords in 2015, where he sits as a Conservative, and in 2023 was a member of the House of Lords Select Committee on AI in Weapons Systems
He has had a personal interest in AI and its development since the early 1980s
